Feral Cat Friends, Inc. addresses the overpopulation of unowned cats through two basic programs:

• The nonlethal management of feral colonies



• The placement of adoptable cats and kittens into good homes

Feral Cat Friends supports the nonlethal management of feral cat colonies by using the method of trap, spay/neuter, and return (TNR). Volunteer caretakers manage feral colonies by providing food and shelter and implementing the TNR method to prevent the number of cats from growing in the colony.

Since many feral cats are cast off by families or lost, some cats in a feral colony may be tame and friendly. In addition, kittens that are humanely trapped between the ages of eight and twelve weeks can be tamed. Feral Cat Friends volunteers provide foster homes for these cats and kittens until they are ready to be placed in good homes. Before a cat or kitten is considered adoptable, each one is tested for feline leukemia/FIV, spayed/neutered, and vaccinated. Feral Cat Friends charges an adoption fee to help offset the medical costs.
